The godmother company: XERA SRL

The company has always been involved in designing, designing and implementing eco-sustainable technological solutions and now, through the WEEKo project, it sets the ambitious and necessary objective of sensitising the behaviour of all hardware users to the correct management, increasingly clean and inclusive, of end-of-life technology, with the commitment to avoid a negative environmental impact and thus respond in a concrete way to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda.

The responsible reuse of materials is just one of the objectives that Xera aims to achieve. In fact, the WEEKO Sustainable Action Programme touches, point by point, all the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda and does so through a 360° commitment: many non-profit organisations are involved in the project, with the aim of creating new opportunities for disadvantaged workers and facilitating access to digital literacy. In addition, the company plans to allocate to these entities part of the proceeds derived from the process of recovery of raw materials and their processing.

The Chamber of Commerce Chieti Pescara presents the third edition of the Hackathon as part of Visionaria 2023 – aimed at startuppers, entrepreneurs, engineers, designers, developers, communication experts, programmers, data analysts, artists, creatives. Three days dedicated to good practices of circular economy, environmental sustainability, awareness on the reuse of materials and the reduction of waste.

INTRODUCTION

Company godmother: Xera srl

Among the ten most polluting industrial sectors in the world, with more than 53 million metric tons of e-waste produced globally and managed mostly through unknown and often illegal channels, technology is currently able to regenerate less than 20% of the sourced waste materials.

Xera S.r.l. launches the WEEKO program for the “zero waste” of electronic materials by 2025 throughout the country.

From responsible disposal of electronic waste to its ethical and transparent management: from waste to opportunity.

During 2021, WEEKO recovered 19580 equipment, of which 16269 were put back on the market, significantly lowering the percentage of discarded devices. In 2022, the average of products returned to the market thanks to the WEEKO programme was 86# of the total collected devices, a value well above the national average.

The Hackathon will be an opportunity to develop its project with the support of experienced mentors present during the event. An engaging experience to meet people who share the same passion for design, design, innovative services and the green economy.
